    Features/Benefits Provided:

  • Updated warehouse controls for faster processing
  • Upgraded computer controls with backup
  • New onboard crane controls for improved performance, reliability

With a facility built in the early 1970's and an AS/RS section created soon after, this meat processor needed to modernize and improve the functionality and capacity of its distribution operations. The goal was to increase the amount of product that could be processed and shipped daily plus create the flexibility to meet future growth. Warehouse operation controls were outdated and unsupportable. Old cranes caused a cumulative downtime that exceeded 20 hours. Backup was non-existent for the main computer board.

Today, operations function with improved performance, reliability and safety. New operation controls allow faster order processing, additional computer interfaces and better database structure. An upgraded AS/RS computer control system provides a backup system with a source code that allows for future modification. Principal operator X-window based screens provide graphical monitoring of the conveyor system, cranes and diagnostic/load information.

Upgraded horizontal and vertical positioning and drive systems optimize crane movement. New onboard crane controls give maintenance personnel better tracking, maintenance and error troubleshooting capability. Program-specific conveyor sections shut down when not in use to reduce wear on components.

The customer now has the flexibility to meet its changing demands. The modernization increased the reliability, flexibility and productivity in the most cost-effective manner.
