The new 30,000 square foot Materials Center is located adjacent to the recently renovated factory at the aerospace company.
The new facility was built to support the manufacturing of products well into the future. The three (3) S/R machine system stores approximately 5,900 trays of product to support manufacturing and assembly. The front-end conveyor system transports the trays from any the of the three (3) aisles of storage to the six (6) workstations where the trays are tilted toward the operator to enable ergonomic picking and replenishment. The controls for the system include PLC controls for the conveyor system, the PC control for the S/R machines, and the Material Flow Control software packages including an interface to the company's existing warehouse management system (WMS).
The system is designed to handle more than 270 dual cycles per hour and 2,500 order lines per day. Quiet system operation was extremely important to the company. The system was designed so that at full operation, noise levels are less than 70db.
