Specialized Lift Table To Suit An Outdoor Application

A major international manufacturer of helicopters required assistance in the design and implementation of a specialized lift table to suit an outdoor application. The lift table operation and design was based upon the need to safely raise and position helicopter blades during a "balancing" procedure. The helicopter blades, typically in a set of 3, were to be raised and attached to a stationary helicopter engine and adjusted/balanced. The set of 3 blades are then removed from the helicopter engine and sent to the assembly for final installation.

The lift table was designed and engineered to operate outdoors throughout the year. During a typical operating cycle the lift table could be regularly submitted to snow, ice, rain, high winds, extreme heat, cold and humidity. The lift table design features a central lubrication system to facilitate maintenance procedures. Each lift cylinder rod is chrome plated and equipped with a protective "boot" to protect it against the elements and to assure extended life.

The power pack assembly is housed in a ventilated, weatherproof enclosure. The rotating top design features a sealed slew ring rotator bearing to ensure optimum performance in the harsh operating environment. The rotating deck also incorporates a series of precision rollers to facilitate sliding the Helicopter blades into position as they are attached to the engine.

The triple scissor design safely lifts the 6000 lb load 18' into the raised position. The rotating deck assembly is designed with sliding extensions to provide the stability necessary to handle a wide range of helicopter blade lengths.

The successful installation was based upon the need to design and manufacture a triple scissor lift table that would perform continually in a severe outdoor working environment.
