A Kentucky based company supplies throttle body assemblies and other engine components for automotive manufacturers such as Honda, Saturn and General Motors. All assemblies and components are shipped in a variety of plastic reusable containers and these containers needed identification.

Kevin Hale, Logistics and Packaging Administrator for the company discusses has labeling problem: " We never had the right solution for our labeling. We tried inserting labels into clear plastic sleeves, but it was hard to read bar codes and the sleeves would often rip in handling. Also, in a warehouse environment, you get foreign matter on the sleeve and can't read the bar code. We would have to take the label; out of the sleeve in order to scan. Nothing but headaches."

The company's labeling situation led to several problems. One of which was errors and delays in shipping. Many times labels were stacked on top of labels so the part(s) inside did not match the I.D. label. As a result, the wrong part got shipped to the wrong customer. Freight charges increased as the company had to pay all shipping charges for the wrong part to come back the corrected part to be reshipped.

The Kennedy Group proposed the use of their Placard I.D. System and it has been in use for several years now. Since the company has been using this system, they have never had to replace a Placard.
