SmartMoves successfully manages complex ins-and-outs of ASRS

SmartMoves, the Warehouse Control System from Tech King Operations, has been successfully implemented to manage inventory and activities of a 3 aisle mini-load system designed to stage and consolidate completed orders.
This publishing distribution application requires the ability to handle 4 carton sizes randomly, orders form 1 to 6 cartons and to store them 2 cartons deep. The complicated algorithms for all these variables are calculated in mere milliseconds by SmartMoves WCS. Cartons arrive in random order and are stored by size and order number.
When staged orders are completed and released by the host ERP system, SmartMoves determines the sequence of operation to discharge the cartons in specific order. The cartons are routed by SmartMoves to the manifest workstations where they are labeled and then to the shipping dock.
The European manufactured ASRS uses wireless communication methods to allow it to move swiftly and accurately. The inserter extractor platform can reach 2 locations of depth and can handle 2 cartons per cycle. It will automatically shuffle cartons that are in front of the desired load to available locations as it retrieves a complete order.
SmartMoves modularity and scalability made it a great choice for this application. Only the functiionality required is purchased so that the user doesn't have to pay for unnecessary features. As new needs arise the appropriate modules/functions can be easily added.
