Symon Assists The Container Store® to Reach Higher Productivity Levels

Effectively Empowers The Container Store Employees With Immediate Feedback and Access to Their Performance

Plano, TX – Symon Communications, a global provider of digital signage solutions announced today that The Container Store, the nation’s original and leading retailer of storage and organization products, is realizing productivity improvements from its implementation of a Symon real-time digital communications, business activity monitoring solution. The Symon system has been in place for one year, and in conjunction with a new back office labor management system has helped The Container Store’s employees to visually communicate workloads and completion rates in several areas throughout the distribution center improving performance and reducing overtime.

Each of the innovative products found in The Container Store’s locations coast to coast is received, processed and shipped from a 725,000 square foot Distribution Center, located in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The Container Store's distribution center is unlike any other. The unique company culture is just as evident in their DC as it is in their stores and home office. So much so, that many of the distribution center employees have enjoyed a long tenure with The Container Store.

With a fulfillment center servicing the online store located within The Container Store distribution center, the Symon DeskView product is helping both packers and supervisors see the status of orders at their PC work stations. The Container Store also implemented Symon NetLite II LED panels to display workload, performance and celebrations out to all employees on the DC floor.

“The most notable improvements came in the shipping and receiving area,” said Amy Carovillano, Vice President of Logistics and Distribution, The Container Store. “We use the Symon NetLite II wallboards to display the number of trucks that either need to be emptied and product stocked, or trucks that need to be filled for shipping merchandise out to our 42 stores nationwide. Previous to implementing the Symon real-time communications system we had to manually request shipping information. This was time consuming and not very efficient for our employees who really had no immediate idea of their performance or the status of order fulfillment.  With the Symon system, all of our employees are on the same page and really pull together when the Symon wallboards indicate they may fall behind schedule for the day.”
